Unscrew the battery cap from the back end of the flashlight. Remove the batteries from the flashlight's battery compartment. Place the batteries and battery cap aside.
Unscrew the reflector from the front of the flashlight. Pop out the plastic lens from inside the reflector with your finger. Place the reflector aside. Place the plastic lens on a table.
Place a piece of unexposed color negative film on the lens. Tape the sides of the film to the lens with strips of black masking tape or electrical tape. Tape the entire surface of the lens, minus the area where the film is, with the tape.
Remove the retaining ring from over the front end of the flashlight. Place the ring aside. Grip the edge of the bulb's base that is inside the flashlight with the needle-nose pliers.
Twist the base clockwise a quarter turn to loosen it from the socket. Remove the pliers. Unscrew the bulb from inside the flashlight with your fingers and dispose of it.
Screw the infrared bulb into the socket inside the flashlight. Grip the base of the bulb with the needle-nose plies. Twist the base a quarter turn clockwise to tighten it in the socket.
Place the retaining ring back over the front of the flashlight. Screw the reflector back into the front of the flashlight. Insert heavy-duty batteries, of the same number and type as those removed earlier, into the battery compartment. Screw the battery cap on.
