Properties
Boji stones are concretions of palladium, pyrite, marcosite and sometimes jarosite. The stones' sparkly appearance comes from the iron pyrite. They are generally subspherical with some protrusions of platelets. One of the primary characteristics of Boji stones is that they are not magnetic. Another is that they have a hardness of 7.4 on the Moh hardness scale.
Varieties
Boji stones can be as small as a dime and as large as a silver dollar. They are said to come in three different varieties: male, female and androgynous. Male Boji stones can generally be identified by the sharp, uneven and protruding patterns on their surface. In contrast, female Boji stones are a more common variety and are generally smooth all over. Androgynous Boji stones display some irregularity on their surfaces, but not to the extent present in male Boji stones.
Uses
Boji stones are said to possess spiritual grounding energy, helping those who use them to become more tranquil, focused and peaceful in their outlook. In addition, they are said to aid in aligning the spiritual chakras and combat any energy blockages. They are said to be particularly effective for four astrological signs: Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo and Taurus. Boji stones gain their full power when they are used as a male and female pair. However, one androgynous stone is considered to possess the same energy as a pair of male and female stones.
Application and Trademark
It is recommended that Boji stones are washed with warm soapy water before use. Following this they can be coated with a oil for protection. Suitable oils include olive oil, other vegetable oils or mineral oil. It is not, however, recommended that they should be applied as part of an elixir. The name "Boji Stone" is trademarked, referring to the concretion stones found within Colorado, but other stones, including "energy stones" from Mexico and "pop rocks" from Kansas, possess similar properties.
