Earth Gemstones
Gemstones are crystals that come from unique minerals and rocks found inside the earth. These crystals also are known as inorganic gemstones like diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires, which are found in the earth's surface. Each gemstone has a rough appearance and pattern that make each uniquely different.
Salt
Salt is a mineral crystal made up of sodium chloride and comes from the oceans and rock deposits. It also is known as rock salt and table salt. Table salt is used to flavor food and rock salt is usually poured onto icy driveways and walkways to melt the ice. Salt comes in different colors such as white, light pink and gray.
Snowflakes
Snowflakes are formed when water molecules change from a liquid state into a solid ice state inside the clouds when air temperatures are below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Each snowflake that falls from the sky is six-sided and made from hydrogen bonds. All snowflakes have different sizes, shapes and designs, but are all the same color, which is white.
Stalagmites and Stalactites
Stalagmites and stalactites are crystals that form naturally inside limestone caves. Stalactites are crystal formations that hang down from the caves, kind of like an icicle would off a house. Stalagmites are crystal-like pillars coming up through the floor of the caves. Both form when mineralized water dripping off becomes evaporated leaving behind mineral deposits.
