Common Crystals

Crystals, also referred to as gemstones, are composite minerals formed under certain conditions of pressure and heat under the earth's surface. Some studies of thought teach that a healing crystal exists for almost every ailment known to mankind. Others believe that certain crystals may be worn for protection against malevolent spirits. Possibly the most known use for crystals is as adornment in jewelry, exquisite ornaments, expensive household items and furniture. Common crystals can be readily found in abundance.
  1. Quartz

    Tourmaline

    • Tourmaline is a widely abundant semi-precious crystalline formation of lithium, aluminum, magnesium, potassium, sodium and iron. Found in Brazil, Afghanistan, the United States, Pakistan, Mozambique and Nigeria, tourmaline is usually a multi-colored stone that changes in appearance from day to night. It also predominantly forms as green, pink, black or yellow. Green tourmaline is worn to transform negative energy to positive energy. Pink is carried to dispel grief. Due to its electromagnetic activity, all colors of tourmaline are believed to be anti-cancer agents.

    Zircon

    • Zircon is a common crystal formed from zirconium silicate. At temperatures ranging from 800 to 1000 degrees Centigrade, zircon changes color. It is heavy and generally immobile but more than 900 tons of zircon is mined around the world every year, particularly in Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Brazil, Tanzania, Mozambique, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Madagascar, Myanmar and Australia. According to legend, zircon can be held against certain body parts to alleviate testicular ailments, varicose veins, pituitary and pineal gland illnesses.

    Aquamarine

    • Aquamarine is such an abundant crystal that harvesting it from nature is cheaper than producing it artificially. It is a variety of the mineral beryllium with trace elements of iron. The clarity of the transparent blue stone is reported to be flawless practically all of the time and masses of aquamarine as large as 243 pounds have been discovered. Aquamarine is mined in Namibia, Brazil, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the United States. Metaphysically, it is believed to protect sailors from turbulent waters and shield owners from gossip. Romans used it to cure liver and throat illnesses.
