Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place a container made of glass facing upward in the center of a cooking pot. The glass container should be shorter than the height of your pot. Your cooking pot lid should have a handle that will allow the condensed water to drip into the container when you put the lid upside on top of your pot.
Fill the pot with saltwater. Make sure the water level is lower than the top of your glass container.
Place the lid of your pot upside down with the handle of the lid directly above the glass container. The lid should rest above the top-rim of the glass container so water collecting in the glass container does not touch the lid's handle.
Turn the temperature up on your heating device until the water begins to boil and steam. The water vapor will condensate on the lid and the handle will guide the purified liquid into the glass container.
Continue to boil the saltwater until the remainder of the saltwater has evaporated and condensed into the glass container. Take the container out of the pot and allow it to cool before drinking. The entire process should take roughly 30 minutes with your water boiling at medium level. Regardless of the amount of water you put in the pot, you should expect to get a 75 percent of return in purified drinking water.
