Tanzanite is a rare and valuable gemstone that is presently only mined on the continent of Africa. The gemstone has been popularized by Tiffany's as the gemstone displays a vibrant blue and purple tinting when examined closely. Just like any other gemstone, inspection by a professional gemologist is the best way to determine the authenticity and quality of the rare stone. In their inspections, gemologists use a Tanzanite filter to aid in their evaluation of the gemstone.
