Beaches
There are many beaches in Florida which are known for the discovery of sea glass, including ones in Navarre Beach, Boynton Beach, St. Pete Beach and on Treasure Island. The Treasure Coast of Florida, ranging from Palm Bay down to Fort Pierce, is where Spanish Galleons sunk off the shore of the area. Today there are still many treasures that wash up on the beaches, including sea glass.
Where to Look
The best place on the beach to look for sea glass is in the wave line in the sand. This is the area of the beach where the packed, wet sand meets the soft sand and is a common place for shells to collect. Though sea glass is sometimes brightly colored, it may take some searching through the shells on the beach.
Time of Day
The best time of day to look for sea glass on Florida's beaches is just as high tide starts retreating back into the ocean or Gulf of Mexico. The water is no longer reaching the wave line and what was deposited during high tide is not washed away.
