Alexandrite
Alexander II, a Russian tsar, gave his name to the gem alexandrite which was first discovered in 1834. Chrysoberyl is the mineral which produces alexandrite while chromium provides the color. This rare stone, normally only seen in older jewelry, has the unique ability to change colors. Depending on the light conditions it may be either green or red.
Pearl
Pearls, both natural and cultured, are produced when an oyster covers an irritant with nacre. Nacre is a lustrous substance that can occur in a variety of colors, including white, rose and black. The value of a pearl depends on a variety of things, including size, imperfections and color.
Moonstone
Moonstones, also known as selenite, come from feldspar, one of the largest mineral groups. The traditional and classic moonstones are nearly transparent yet have a shimmer that is a bluish color. Moonstones come in a variety of colors, all of which have a shimmer to them.
