How to Make an EMF Blocker

An electromagnetic field is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects that are moving. This type of field is often surround electrical devices such as power lines, electrical wiring and electronic appliances. A number of materials can block EMFs and each can be cut to meet your specific needs and shaped by hand. If you want to make an EMF blocker for your magnet, motor or appliance, you can do so with any EMF-shield material.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a roll or spool of electromagnetic-field shielding material. Choices include thin films, somewhat thicker foils, paper-thin material that comes with adhesive backing, and wire material you can wrap around the object that needs shielding. In general, the thicker the material, the better job it will do.

    • 2

Measure the width and height for the area that you need to apply the EMF shield to. Write down the dimensions. If you are going to be shaping the material over an object, measure the object's depth and add half of the depth measurement to both the width and the height measurement.

    • 3

Cut the EMF shield material to the length and width you wrote down in Step 2. Most EMF-shield materials can be cut with snips, but some thicker materials require sheet metal cutters.

    • 4

Place the EMF shield material in the desired location. Shape the material to your liking, if necessary. Tape the perimeter of the EMF-shield material to secure it in place.
