Things You'll Need
Instructions
Position the printed circuit board in front of you so the mounting or printed surface is face up. Examine the printed surface and rotate the printed circuit board until the three extrusions are facing downward toward you. All pieces will need to be positioned on the printed surface. The board will need to be flipped over to the foil side so that each piece can be soldered in position during the construction process.
Place the DPDT push-button switch on the top-right corner of the board directly to the right of the "On/Off Power" wording. The plunger must extend past the edge of the board. Solder all six connections.
Snap one RCA phono jack in to the space to the left of "Audio In." Snap the remaining RCA phono jack to the right of the "RF Out" wording. Solder the three ground connections of each jack.
Position the 2.5-mm power connector to the right of the "Power" wording.
Place the slug-tuned inductor in the top left of the printed circuit board. Solder all three tabs to hold the component in place.
Position the .01 uf disc capacitor in the slot directly to the right of the slug-tuned inductor. The capacitor should be in a vertical position along the circuit layout.
Position the 10K-ohm resistor to the right of the component from Step 6. The resistor should be horizontally positioned to bridge the two vertical circuits.
Position the .01-uF disc capacitor to the left of the component from Step 7. The capacitor should be horizontally positioned so the right corner intersects with the corner of the far-left circuit.
Follow the circuit down to the first junction. Install the NPN transistor. Make sure the piece is installed so the flat side is face down.
Follow the circuit to the left. Install a 220-pF disc capacitor in a vertical position where the top edge is aligned with the first circuit juncture.
Follow the circuit as it passes through the top of the capacitor. You will see three junctures in a vertical line. Install a .002-uF disc capacitor on the top two junctures. Install a 270-ohm resistor in a horizontal position on the bottom. The components should be in a horizontal position with the right edge placed over the junctures.
Locate the NPN transistor installed in Step 9. Follow the circuit down and to the right. You will see two lines bordered by two junctures. Install a 270-ohm resistor so the ends of the resistor span the two junctures.
Locate the NPN transistor installed in Step 9. Follow the circuit down to the first juncture. Look to the immediate right and identify the two junctures next to the circuit. Install an additional NPN transistor between these two junctures to complete the circuit.
Follow the circuit down and to the right. Locate two junctures separated by a thick circuit. Bridge these junctures with a .01-uF disc capacitor.
Follow the circuit to the right. Identify the next set of junctures separated by the thick circuit. Bridge these junctures with a 270-ohm resistor.
Follow the thick circuit to the right until you reach the diagonal corner. Install the 220-uF electrolytic capacitor so it covers the diagonal corner and a portion of the large circuit block. Make sure the polarization matches the printed circuit board.
Locate the NPN transistor installed in Step 13. Follow the circuit down and to the left until you reach a triangle of junctures. Install an NPN transistor in this junction.
Follow the circuit down until you can visualize three vertical junctures. Install a 10K-ohm resistor on the top and bottom junctures. Install a 2.2K-ohm resistor in the middle junctures. Align each resistor so the left edge is over the juncture and the right end touches the junctures to the right.
Locate the NPN transistor installed in Step 17. Follow the circuit to the left and identify the large juncture. Install a 48-uH inductor in a vertical position so the top and bottom align with the large junctures.
Follow the circuit to the left. Install a .01-uF disc capacitor, .01-uF disc capacitor and a 10k-ohm resistor on each of the vertical junctures respectively. The right side of each piece should align with the juncture and they should be placed in a horizontal position.
Follow the circuit down. Install a 10-uF electrolytic capacitor in the next juncture. Install another 10-uF electrolytic capacitor in the juncture slightly above and to the left.
Follow the circuit under the second capacitor installed in Step 21. Install a 1K-ohm resistor so the right edge aligns with the juncture.
Follow the circuit down and install an NPN transistor. Continue following the circuit down, and install a .01-uF disc capacitor, a 1K-ohm resistor, a 10uF-electrolytic capacitor and the 5K PC mount potentiometer on the respective junctures. Solder all three leads of the potentiometer.
Identify the RCA-type PC mount connectors next to the "RF Out" wording. Follow the circuit up, and install a .002-uF disc capacitor in a horizontal position at the first juncture. The left edge of the capacitor should be over the juncture.
Continue following the circuit and install a 10-uH inductor. Install a .002-uF disc capacitor and a .01-uF disc capacitor in vertical positions at the next two junctures to bridge the circuits.
Continue following the circuit and install NPN transistors at the next two junctures.
Follow the circuit up and install a 1K-ohm resistor.
Connect a 5-foot wire antenna to the center pin next to the "RF Out" wording.
