      Inspect the power supply unit's electrical wiring. Verify that the wires are not worn or cut, and that the wiring fastens securely to the power supply unit in the correct configuration as noted in the owner's manual.

      Note all warning and alarm codes displayed on the power supply unit's front panel. FANUC power supply units flash number codes that pinpoint basic failure areas. Consult the owner's manual for each code the unit displays.

      Confirm the power supply unit's input voltage. Connect a multimeter to the input electrical wiring, and measure the voltage. Each FANUC power supply has a different voltage level needed for proper performance. Verify the correct voltage in the owner's manual.

      Inspect the cooling fan through the power supply unit's vent openings. Verify that the fan rotates. A slow or broken cooling fan will cause the unit to overheat. Replace a malfunctioning cooling fan.

      Verify the maximum number of external components that the FANUC power supply unit can operate by consulting the owner's manual. Excessive component attachments will overload the unit, causing less voltage output. Each FANUC power supply has a different specification for the maximum load allowed.
