Using Nitrogen Dual Gas Barrier Sealing System
Check the dual gas barrier seal equipment. Put on required safety equipment, such as gloves or goggles. Review all necessary safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets, or MSDS, before assembling the equipment. Lock out the motor and valves and release any pressure in the system. Look into the seal chamber for any dents, corrosion or cuts that could result in leaks. In addition, look for any dirt on the chamber. The seal faces must be completely clean at all times to prevent leakage.
Apply Krytox lubricant to the shaft or sleeve. Slide the seal cartridge onto the shaft. Install the pump seal chamber and position the seal gland barrier inlet to the nine o'clock position. Position the plugged drain to the six o'clock position.
Assemble the pump by adjusting the bearings. Set the impeller and connect the pump piping. Connect the coupling in order for the shaft to be in the operating position. Position the seal with the housing O-ring gasket in place against the seal chamber face. Tighten the gland nuts using an open-end wrench. Tighten the set screws on the device using an Allen wrench.
Pipe the gland connections to the seal. Vent out the gas barrier line to get rid of any foreign material that might have collected in the piping. Connect the nitrogen gas barrier to the barrier inlet port. There is a pressure gauge and regulator. These are required to set the barrier gas pressure higher than that of the product being sealed or the seal chamber pressure. Some devices have a control panel that indicates the pressure. Plug the drain port and begin operation.
