How to Use a CST/Berger 58-TAP Trivet

Interior construction work requires precision tools for aligning walls, corners and floors. Many construction professionals use self-leveling lasers, such as the CST/Berger MP5, for ensuring a plumb drywall and framing project. The laser requires certain accessories for proper setup and accurate positioning. A 58-TAP trivet positions the MP5 laser above an intended drywall installation, providing a plumb down laser beam. This plumb down beam offers a visual marker for aligning the walls straight across a room's area.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the MP5 laser to its universal mount by screwing the mount's permanent screw into the laser's bottom housing.

    • 2

Adjust the laser's position on the mount so that the laser's bottom assembly hangs off of the mount's edge. The laser's down beam should be visible as the laser's bottom assembly is offset from the mount.

    • 3

Screw the 58-TAP trivet into the universal mount's open threads. Position the laser's visible down beam over the trivet's large circular opening. Verify that the laser is not impeded, allowing the beam to shoot straight through the trivet's center (See Reference 2 through 4).

    • 4

Tighten the trivet and universal mount together firmly by hand, once they are positioned correctly. The trivet has a large circular screw that easily tightens with a firm grip.

    • 5

Place the trivet and laser configuration on top of a framing or drywall track. Use the trivet's adjustment screws for positioning the laser's plumb down beam on the working area below. Tighten the adjustment screws by hand once the laser is positioned correctly.

    • 6

Let the laser level itself after all the adjustments and movement. Once the laser produces a solid down beam, workers can align drywall and framing based on the laser's accuracy and visual marker.
