A classic hollow face illusion is an image that is sculpted into a concave shape, similar to the design on a jelly mold. As you move around the shape, it appears to be a 3-D convex image that turns and follows you. A famous hollow face illusion is a concave sculpture of Albert Einstein that appears to be a lifelike 3-D model but really is the shape of a convex bowl. The folded dragon is an easy-to-make hollow face illusion. A drawing of the dragon is cut out and assembled by folding and taping it into a peculiar 2-D pattern. When finished, the head will appear to be a 3-D shape that follows you as you move about the room.
