Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place a piece of at least day-old bread made without preservatives on a flat surface.
Use a cotton swab to collect surface dirt from the ground or countertop. Rub the soiled end of the swab over the surface of the bread.
Drizzle a few drops of warm water on the surface of the bread.
Place the bread in a resealable plastic bag and seal it closed.
Place the bag in warm, dark place, such as cupboard or drawer that is not going to be opened for a couple of days. Use an old food container, such as a milk or juice carton, and place the bag inside. Seal the carton with adhesive tape.
Leave the bread alone for at least 24 hours before checking for mold growth. It might take up to 48 hours, depending on conditions, such as humidity.
