Things You'll Need
Instructions
Multiply the length of your projected fence by its height to calculate the fence area. For example, if the fence length is 20 feet and the height is 4 feet, then the area is 20 x 4 = 80 square feet.
Measure the length and the width of a brick. A typical brick length is 8 inches and a typical width is 4 inches.
Multiply the length and the width of the brick to calculate the area of the brick face that will be exposed. In this example, the area is 8 x 4 = 32 square inches.
Multiply the fence area in square feet by 144 to convert it to square inches. In this example, the fence area would be 80 x 144 = 11,520 square inches.
Divide the fence area by the area of the brick, both in square inches, to calculate the number of bricks you need. In this example, you would divide 11,520 / 32 = 360 bricks needed.
