How to Make a Paper Airplane With Staples

The paper airplane has an important place in history. The Wright Brothers built some and used them in wind tunnels, in order to study flight. They eventually used their knowledge to help build the first successful powered airplane, and then the first piloted airplane. Even today, adults and children use paper planes to learn about aerodynamics. To make a paper airplane with staples, create the airplane body with a single folded sheet of paper. Place the staple a few inches away from the front of the airplane.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold a sheet of paper in half lengthwise. Run a finger along its leg to form a crease, then unfold it.

    • 2

Fold the upper part to form two triangles that meet at the crease. First, take the top left corner and fold it down and to the right, so it touches the crease. Then take the right corner of the paper, and fold it down and to the left so it touches the crease. Do not let the two triangles overlap.

    • 3

Fold the left and right corners again, so that they combine to form a sharp point at the top. Again, the two triangles should touch in the middle, but should not overlap.

    • 4

Fold the paper lengthwise at the crease. Turn it 90 degrees counterclockwise, so its nose points left. Put a staple approximately three inches or so from the front of the plane, near the bottom.

    • 5

Form the wings. First, create two more triangles by folding down the top part of the airplane. Afterwards, spread the triangles up and out, so they are at right angles to the body.

    • 6

Try to make the airplane fly. If necessary, cut off a small piece from the tip of the airplane, or move the location of the staple.
