Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut two pieces of heavy-duty parchment paper that are each larger than a sheet of printer paper, using scissors.
Place a sheet of printer paper on top of each piece of parchment paper. Hold the piece of printer paper in place with one hand while you trace the outline of the printer paper onto the parchment paper, using a black marker or pen.
Remove each sheet of printer paper and carefully cut along the outlines you have made on the parchment paper. You now have two sheets of 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch parchment paper.
Place each sheet of paper on the table in front of you with one 8 1/2-inch side of each sheet parallel to the edge of the table. Mark a ̶0;Z̶1; on the bottom edge of each sheet of paper. Turn each sheet over so that the bottom edge you have marked ̶0;Z̶1; is still parallel to the edge of the table in front of you. Mark a ̶0;Y̶1; on the left-hand side of each sheet of paper.
Pick up the bottom-right corner of each sheet of paper and fold the paper so that the bottom edge you have marked ̶0;Z̶1; covers and is aligned with the side edge you have marked ̶0;Y.̶1; Note that you have left a rectangle of paper at the top of the sheet that is not covered by the corner you have folded over. Cut along the bottom of each rectangle to form two parchment-paper triangles, each with one long side and two shorter sides.
Place each triangle on the table in front of you so its long side is parallel to the edge of the table. Mark a ̶0;D̶1; in the bottom corner of each triangle on your right, an ̶0;E̶1; in the next corner going counterclockwise and an ̶0;F̶1; in the remaining corner.
Turn each triangle over and place it on the table in front of you so its long side is still parallel to the edge of the table. Mark an ̶0;A̶1; in the bottom corner of each triangle on your right, a ̶0;B̶1; in the next corner going counterclockwise and a ̶0;C̶1; in the remaining corner.
Pick up each corner "A" and fold it so the point of the corner is touching the side marked ̶0;Z̶1; and the bottom edge of the corner forms a 90-degree angle with side ̶0;Z.̶1;
Fold each corner "B" straight down so that it covers corner "A" and each corner "B̵7;s" left edge is aligned with the bottom edge of corner "A." Turn each piece of paper over and place it so that each corner "D" is pointing to your right and each corner "E" is pointing upward.
Pick up each corner "D" and bend it across each piece of paper until its point is touching the point of the angle in the side opposite it on your left.
Fold each corner "E" straight downward so that it covers corner "D" and each corner "E̵7;s" left edge is aligned with the bottom edge of corner "D."
Pick up each cup so that its narrowest end is pointing downward and its widest end is pointing upward. Put your fingers between the two folded edges of the widest end of each cup to open each cup into a cup shape.
Fit one of the cups you have made into the other cup to make a double-walled cup.
Fill a teakettle with water.
Place the filled teakettle on a stove and heat the water in the kettle to boiling.
Hold the double-walled paper cup you have made in your hand and ask your assistant to fill the cup carefully halfway with boiling water from the teakettle.
