How to Make a Foam Snake With Yeast

Several common household items can be combined to cause a chemical reaction that forms a spewing foam snake. The experiment is fun for both children and adults, but children should not be allowed to do this on their own because exposure to hydrogen peroxide can burn the skin. It is best to attempt this experiment outdoors on a surface that can be rinsed with a hose, or in a bathtub in order to contain the foam. The amount of foam will vary with each attempt, but it may be enough to fill about half of a standard bathtub.

Things You'll Need

  • Latex gloves
  • 3/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
  • 2 tbsp. dish soap
  • 2-liter soda bottle
  • Food coloring
  • Cup
