How to Make Gluey Gooey Slime

Creating homemade slime is a great activity for those looking for some scary props, an intriguing classroom activity, a science fair project or just a little afternoon entertainment. Gooey slime can be made in your own science laboratory or kitchen in a couple of minutes, using a few common ingredients, making it a fun and educational way to pass a rainy day.

Things You'll Need

White glue
Powered borax
Food coloring

Instructions

  Pour 1/2 cup of white glue into a bowl. If desired, add a drop or two of food coloring and stir until the color is evenly dispersed. Set the container aside.

  Pour 1/2 cup of warm water into a second bowl. Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of borax to the water. Less borax will result in a thinner slime and more borax will result in a thicker slime. Mix until the borax is completely dissolved.

  Add a small amount (a tablespoon or two) of the borax solution to the glue solution and mix rapidly. Repeat until the two mixtures are fully combined and form a slimy concoction.

  Play with the slime. Pour the slime onto a sheet of waxed paper for maximum creative freedom. Alternatively, leave the slime in the mixing container or pour it into smaller containers for more contained slime entertainment.
