How to Stop Streetlight Interference

Streetlight Interference, or SLI, refers to the phenomenon of streetlights buzzing, flickering or going out when certain people pass near them. SLI is also used to describe the phenomena of watch malfunction and electronic-equipment interference that occur around certain people. The late Hilary Evans, who received degrees in English Literature at Cambridge and Birmingham Universities, did the most complete research on SLI through the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomenon (ASSAP), which he founded.

See your doctor. People have varying levels of electrical energy in their bodies. If you have an excessive amount, your doctor may be able to give you advice on how to diminish any negative consequences, which can include unrelenting and painful shocks caused by excessive static-electricity buildup, particularly in dry winter air. Your doctor can recommend methods of reducing your susceptibility to static buildup.

    • 2

Wear rubber-soled shoes to reduce the buildup of static electricity in your body. If you have very strong static buildup, look for Electro Static Discharge (ESD) shoes, which are used in the electronics industry to protect delicate electronics equipment from damage.

    • 3

Use natural rather than synthetic fabrics to reduce static buildup in your body. Synthetic fabrics pick up a much greater static charge than natural fabrics do.

    • 4

Use a humidifier. Static electricity builds up more quickly in dry air. Make sure that indoor air is well humidified to diminish the effect of static buildup.
