Packaging
8ZM and 32ZM batteries are difficult to tell apart unless they are held side by side. Rayovac sells the batteries in packages designed to hang from hooks on store shelves. To help customers distinguish one type of battery from the other, Rayovac designs slightly different packaging for each as of August 2011. 8ZM battery packs use blue labels on the packaging while 32ZM batteries are sold with green packing.
Size
While both battery types are very small, the diameter of each type of battery is distinct, making one or the other usable in your hearing aid or other electronic device. The 8ZM battery has a slightly larger diameter than does the 32ZM. When purchasing this kind of batteries, it's important to determine the type that your device accepts, either by looking at the label on the battery itself or taking a used battery to the store to compare.
Quantity
Rayovac sells both types of batteries in packs that have several batteries. They key difference for this category is the number of batteries that you can buy per pack. 32ZM batteries have four spindles per pack with eight batteries on each spindle, offering 32 batteries altogether. 8ZM batteries are sold in much lower quantities, having two spindles per pack and four batteries on each spindle, offering eight batteries per pack.
Type Number
The "type" is a numerical designation that allows consumers to differentiate the 8ZM and 32ZM batteries, in addition to packaging and label differences. 8ZM batteries are designated "Type 10" or "Size 10" while the 32ZM are designated "Type 675" or "Size 675." This nomenclature is counter-intuitive considering the type 10 batteries are larger than the type 675.
