Acculab Vic-212 Caliberation Process

Weight scales have the ability to measure many different items, from a shipping box to an extremely light postal letter. Additionally, research and laboratory facilities use weight scales, or balances, for conducting measured experiments with liquid or powdered chemicals. However, scales used in precision measuring environments, such as the Acculab VIC-212 require calibration periodically to obtain an accurate measuring value.

Acculab VIC-212 Features
- The Acculab VIC-212 is a precision balance that performs weight calculations, as well as providing specific gravity and percentage values. The balance's accuracy extends to a thousandth of a gram, requiring a precise calibration method for the most realistic measuring value. This particular model has supplied calibration weights, ranging from 2 to 100 grams, hidden along the scale's side, under a tabbed access panel.
Calibration Steps
- Turn the scale on by pressing its power button. Zero the balance after the powering sequence has completed. At this point, there should be no load on the scale's pan. Press the calibration button. A number, such as "5,000.0," will appear on the display with no unit indication. This number verifies that the user has successfully entered the calibration mode. If you desire different weight value, press the "F" button repeatedly until the display toggles to the needed weight value. Press the "Enter" button to confirm the weight selection. The weight value will remain flashing on the display. Place the calibration weight, or weights, on the scale's pan to match the flashing value. The display will stop flashing, and a stability symbol will appear, to confirm that the applied weight matches the display weight. This effectively calibrates the scale, leaving the balance ready for use.
Calibration Error
- The Acculab VIC-212 will display an error code if the scale is not set properly before the calibration process. Verify that the scale has no load on its pan. Zero out the scale as well. In addition, the internal scale signal should be stable by ensuring that the immediate area does not have vibration or movement.
Calibration Frequency
- After the initial purchase of the Acculab VIC-212, calibrate the scale before attempting to use the precision weighing system. Perform calibration again if the scale is moved to a different location. Users may calibrate the scale more often, based on application needs.
