How to Make Ingots

In troubled economic times, the value of gold ingots inevitably rises as investors look for a safe haven away from the turmoil of the marketplace. Investors, stockbrokers and those looking to save in a secure environment should take the time to research and understand some of the basics of the manufacturing process. Refining companies usually follow the same procedure to ensure the gold remains pure and the ingots are all the same weight.

  • 30,000 oz. of gold
  • Industrial scale

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the transfer crucible to around 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Preheat the bar mold to the same temperature and place on the industrial scale.

    • 2

Melt the gold. Place the 30,000 oz. of gold into the holding crucible. Place the holding crucible into the industrial furnace. Set the furnace to around 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave until all the gold in the holding furnace is completely molten.

    • 3

Pour 2,000 oz. of molten gold into the transfer crucible.

    • 4

Pour the molten gold down the gantry, through the gas flame and into the bar mold. When the scale reads 400 oz., stop pouring. Allow the gold to cool and solidify.

    • 5

Extract the gold bar and remove any staining with the cloth. Place the bar on the scale and record the weight. Finally, stamp the gold ingot using the hydraulic press with the weight, serial number and your own personal mark.
