People participate within various types of organizational groups on a daily basis, whether they realize it or not. The human species began as small groups -- or organizations -- of hunters and gatherers, only to evolve into larger groups of civilizations, creating an assortment of mini-organizations -- from companies and governmental groups to cities, states and counties. Understanding group dynamics helps establish an efficiency of behavior, as well as contributing to scientific knowledge.
