Place the two telephone books flat on the table. Separate the two from each other by a foot. Show both sides of the cardboard to the audience. Lay the cardboard flat on the two telephone books.
Show the metal cursor-shaped spinner to the audience. Let a member of the audience inspect the cursor and return it to you. Place the spinner on the cardboard so that the pointed end is facing the audience.
Reach into your left pocket and palm the magnet while pointing to the spinner with your right hand. Remove your hand from your pocket.
Show the back of both hands to the audience so everyone can see there is nothing there. Turn your right hand so that the palm is facing the audience to show that there is nothing there.
Transfer the magnet to the back of your hand using your fingers as you twist your hand around. Show the palm of your left hand to the audience so that everyone can see that there is nothing there.
Place your right hand, palm down, about a half-foot above the cursor. Place your left hand, palm up, below the cardboard as you transfer the magnet back to the palm of your hand.
Point the finger of your right hand at the cursor and twirl it. Move the magnet beneath the cardboard to twirl the spinner in time with the finger motion.
Remove your hands from above and below the cardboard. Pick up the spinner in your right hand as you place your left hand in your pocket and let go of the magnet.
Bring your hand out of your pocket and grab hold of the cardboard. Offer both the cardboard and the spinner to the audience to check for any trick that made it possible for the spinner to move.
