How to Make a Bubble Sculpture

Young children enjoy making art and making bubbles. Bubble art combines two activities that children love to do. Bubbles demonstrate the simple value of how a gas will expand in all directions. Use this easy recipe and use items you already have in your home to entertain kids and teach them basic science to create bubble art.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a bubble solution by mixing 41/2 cups of water, 1/2 cup dish washing detergent and 1/2 cup of corn syrup in a mixing bowl. The corn syrup will make the solution stronger. Mix the bubble solution gently with a spoon; do not shake it.

    • 2

Dip the end of a drinking straw into the bubble solution. Blow a bubble slightly over the surface you want to build your sculpture on. Then, insert the straw at a 45 degree angle into the bubble, and gently blow again to make a bubble within the bubble. This is the beginning of the bubble sculpture.

Dip the straw in the bubble solution again. Blow another bubble on top of the bubble you have already created. Continue doing this to make the desired shape and size of your sculpture. Always dip the end of your straw into the bubble solution before attempting to blow another bubble.
