Set Up the Experiment
Gather a raw egg, a jar with a lid, vinegar, a ruler, and a pencil and paper. Measure the egg's length with the ruler and record the length on the paper. Measure the egg's width with the ruler and record the width on the paper.
Start the Experiment
Place the egg in the jar. Be careful not the break the egg. Pour enough vinegar into the jar to cover the egg. Place the lid on the jar. Put the jar in a safe place where it will remain undisturbed overnight.
Record Observation
On the second day, record your observations of any changes on the paper. Don't disturb the jar. Leave the jar overnight again.
Measure Change
On third day, remove the egg from the jar and measure and record the egg's length and width. Record any observations you have about the egg. Return the egg to the jar and fill the jar with enough tap water to cover the egg. Cover the jar with the lid and let it sit overnight.
Final Observation and Measurement
On the fourth day, record your observations without disturbing the egg. On the fifth day, remove the water from the jar and measure and record the length and width of the egg. Record any other observations about the egg.
