Measure the length and width of a room that is rectangular shaped with a measuring tape. Say, for example, the length is 7.5 yards and the width is 4 yards.
Add up the length and width. In this example, the sum is 7.5 + 4 = 11.5 yards.
Multiply the sum by two to calculate the perimeter of the room. In this example, the perimeter is 11.5 x 2 = 23 yards.
Multiply the perimeter by 1.094, if the measurements are made in meters, to calculate the perimeter in yards. For example, if the perimeter is 20 meters, it corresponds to 20 x 1.094 = 21.88 yards.
Divide the perimeter by 3, if the measurements are made in feet, to calculate the perimeter in yards. For example, if the perimeter is 60 feet, it corresponds to 60/3 = 20 yards.
