How to Increase the Voltage of an Electrode

Electrical circuits consist of a number of components and these include resistors, capacitors and transistors. Transistors are electrical switches and the main constituent of modern-day computer processors. Transistors have a series of connections to operate the switch; these are known as electrodes. There are three electrodes in most modern transistor structures: the source, drain and gate. The electrode voltages can be controlled using a direct current (DC) electrical power supply.

• Transistor
• DC power supply
• Electrical wires
• Digital voltmeter

     Connect the electrical wires between the desired electrode and the DC power supply.

     Switch on the DC power supply. Increase the voltage to the desired level, by slowly turning the "Voltage" knob.

     Measure the voltage across the electrode. Switch on the digital multimeter and put the probes across the electrode attached to the DC power supply. Ensure the voltage is at the desired level. Switch off the multimeter.
