Advances in chemical engineering have produced a wide range of technologies used for industry, science and daily life. Amberlite IRA-400 is the trademarked name of a sodium hydrosulfide hydrate produced by Rohm and Haas. It´s a resin exchange used for deoxygenation of water, deionization and other chemical processes involving liquids and pH manipulation. Amberlite IRA-400 can be toxic and is highly reactive with other chemicals, so it should be packed with the utmost caution and in accord with standard lab safety procedures.
Instructions
-
-
1
Put on rubber gloves, rubber boots and goggles before handling Amberlite IRA-400.
-
2
Ventilate the area.
-
-
3
Clear the resin of insoluble matter by backwashing for eight to 10 minutes.
-
4
Pack the wet Amberlite in polycoated glass columns.
-
5
Vacuum-seal the columns, as air can dry out the resin and cause it to expand, shattering the glass encasement.
