How to Capture Back EMF

Back EMF, or electromagnetic force, is the energy often lost when electromagnets turn to produce power. To improve process efficiency, capturing back EMF is a goal of system designers. Many different inventions are designed to hold this energy in the system.

Instructions

    • 1

Modify your electromagnetic generator by fixing the rotor between the two poles inside the stator. Add a take-off to the rotor and connect it to a wheel, gear system or belt to adjust torque levels.

    • 2

Wrap the two bars that make up the stator's frame with aluminum or copper. Connect the input coil to the switching circuit, and hook the output coil to the recovery circuit.

    • 3

Turn the generator on. The spinning of the rotor will generate back EMF. The connections you made between the coils and the circuits will send this power back to the battery, recharging it instead of dissipating it.
