Hydrogen Exploding Egg
Cut the top off of the soft drink bottle with a knife making a funnel. The cut does not have to be perfectly straight, but enough so that the funnel is stable sitting on the wide end.
Pierce a hole in both ends of an egg using a straight pin and extreme care to prevent the entire egg from shattering.
Straighten out a paperclip and stick the end in one end of the egg. Mix up the yolk and egg white with the paper clip.
Blow the contents of the egg by blowing on one hole and the letting the scrambled egg exit the other hole you pierced.
Put on the safety glasses and pour hydrochloric acid into a glass Erienmeyer flask to a depth of 1 or 2 inches.
Drop zinc into the hydrochloric acid and wait for the reaction to start.
Put the stopper into the flask and set the hole on one end of the egg over the end of tube until the gas runs out the top.
Cover the top hole on the egg partially with your finger and let the egg shell fill with hydrogen gas.
Remove the egg from the tube and set it upright on the soda bottle funnel.
Ignite the top end of the egg with the lighter. When the ratio of hydrogen to oxygen reaches 2 to 1, the egg will explode with a loud pop.
