Instructions
Calculate the total number of gtt. For example, an IV drip set to run at 30gtt / minute for 1 hour delivers 1,800 drops -- 30gtt/minute x 60 minutes = 1,800.
Divide the total gtt by 20, the number of gtt per cubic centimeter. The result is the total volume measured in cubic centimeters.
For example, 1,800 gtt is equivalent to 90cc because 1,800 / 20 = 90.
Check for errors by reversing your calculations. Multiply the number of cc by the number of gtt per ml. If the result is not the original value in gtt, then there is an error in your calculations.
