How to Measure PSI

Pressure is a variable which is used in physics, engineering and meteorology. It is a measure of the force per unit area, and is measured in a number of different unit systems including Pascals, bars and pounds per square inch (PSI). Pressure can be measured with the use of barometers, which come in a variety of forms. Today, digital barometers can be acquired for reasonable prices of around 150 dollars from everyday electronics retailers.

Switch on the digital barometer using the button on the front panel.

    • 2

Select the measurement range. To do this press the mode button a few times until the measurement range blinks on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to select the correct range.

    • 3

Read off the value of pressure. The units will be presented in millibar.

    • 4

Convert the pressure from millibars to PSI. Multiply the pressure in millibar by 0.0145 in order to get the pressure in PSI.
