How to Convert Dew Point to Ppm

Dew point is the temperature that the air must cool to in order for water vapor to condense into water. The higher the dew point temperature, the more humid the air feels. Ppm, or parts per million, can be used for volume or weight. Converting dew point into ppm will vary depending on the type of ppm, and whether you are converting the atmospheric dew point or the dew point at the line pressure. The simplest way to covert dew point to ppm is to use a conversion table for guidance.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a conversion table. These tables can be found at the library or online. Websites such as Dry Technic, Dew-Point and ASGE online offer conversion charts. The links to these websites can be found in the "Resources" section.

    • 2

Locate your dew point temperature on the chart. Be sure to note whether the temperature is in Celsius or Fahrenheit. On some conversion charts, you may also need to note whether the dew point is atmospheric or line pressure.

    • 3

Find the corresponding ppm on the conversion chart. The standard ppm will be listed in a volume basis. Some conversion charts also list the ppm in weight.

    • 4

Replace the dew point with the corresponding ppm.
