Environmental Vulnerability Profile
An environmental vulnerability profile is used to determine how vulnerable a particular ecosystem is to climate change, species extinction, habitat destruction and other destructive forces. The rain forest, for example, has a high vulnerability profile as a result of habitat destruction, pollution, poaching and numerous other factors. Ecologists, biologists, veterinarians and other natural scientists are people who frequently contribute to research into a particular location's vulnerability profile.
Disaster Vulnerability Profile
Certain areas are more susceptible to natural disasters than others. For example, a city located on plate fault lines is more susceptible to earthquakes, while a city in the Midwest may be susceptible to tornadoes. Meteorologists and geographers frequently develop vulnerability profiles to determine a particular location's susceptibility to a natural disaster.
