Things You'll Need
Instructions
Fold one piece of paper into a nose cone and secure it with tape. The bottom diameter of the nose cone needs to be the same diameter as the bottom of your 2-liter bottle. Cut the bottom of the nose cone straight. Paint or decorate the nose cone as desired.
Press the ball of clay into the nose cone and tape it in. The weight will help to stabilize your airplane. Tape the nose cone to the bottom of the 2-liter soda bottle.
Roll a second piece of poster board around the body of the bottle. This will form the fuselage of your plane. Decorate as desired.
Cut a tail fin from the third piece of poster board and attach it to the bottle near the top. Cut two wings and attach them to the sides of the fuselage with tape. Don't make the wings too long or they will sag.
Drill a small hole into the rubber stopper that is just big enough for the needle of the bicycle pump. Press the needle into the stopper.
Fill the bottle 1/3 to 1/4 with water. Place the stopper into the bottle top. Turn the airplane over and balance the plane on it's tail fin.
Start pumping. When the pressure inside the bottle gets to be too much, the airplane will be launched into the sky.
