Familiarize yourself with the relationship between microns and inches. One micron is equal to one twenty-five thousandth of an inch, and microns are a unit of measurement for granular particle size. Microns are used only when a particle is so small that 325 to 400 holes are needed per linear inch of screen.
Setup an equation. Because a micron (M) is equal to one twenty-five thousandth of an inch (I), you can construe that every inch is equal to 25,000 microns, or:
I * 25,000 = M
By isolating the inch (I), the equation turns into the following:
I = M / 25,000
Convert microns to inches. For example, if you need to convert 2000 microns to inches, the equation would be I = 2000 / 25,000, which is equal to 0.08 inches.
