How to Build a Miniature Tesla Flying Saucer

As legend would have it, inventor Nikolai Tesla and his assistant Otis T. Carr invented a flying saucer in the 1950s. Those present claimed the vehicle could travel faster than the speed of light, but eventually the project was shut down and confiscated by the U.S. government. Whether or not you believe the tale, you can still have fun making your own miniature model version of what's come to be known as "Tesla's Flying Saucer."

Instructions

    • 1

Start with two ceramic plates of the same size. How large your saucer is will depend on the size of the plates, but smaller "tea saucers" would be the lightest and easiest to work with.

    • 2

Set one plate right side up. Place the second plate next to it in the same manner.

    • 3

Use a hot glue gun to put glue around the edges of both plates. Make sure you use enough glue on both so that they stick together. Heavier plates may require more glue.

    • 4

Leave one plate sitting upright and flip the other over. Press the lips of both together so that the glue can harden. Hold them for several minutes, then let go and allow them to dry for an hour.

    • 5

Wrap tin foil around the entirety of your new saucer. Cover all the exposed areas and use a piece of tape to hold the end down.

    • 6

Place an old TV antenna or another ornament atop the saucer. Glue it onto the top of the saucer for decoration.
