Seance Directions

Choose a specific purpose for which you want to hold the séance. Focus your energy toward a single goal, such as a single entity you want to contact or conjure.

Select a group of people who have the same goal in mind for the séance. This might be a group of people who all want to conjure an apparition or ghost, which is a visible, or a spirit, which may not be visible. Choose only people who are open to the idea of the séance. The séance group should also be calm and patient. You'll need to choose a host to guide the séance. This person should ready herself, calming her ego and becoming mentally prepared for the séance.

Choose a quiet place for the séance. If you're trying to contact a specific person, it's often better to hold the séance in an area connected to him. Therefore, a peaceful room in his old house would work well. Remove distracting items from the room, and make sure there are no ringing phones, televisions or other noisy items about that will interrupt the séance.

Place a round table in the middle of the room. Cover it with a black cloth. The chairs around the table should be enough only for the exact number of people in the séance group.

Place three white candles in the room so that they form a triangle, with the table in the middle. You may also want to add objects connected to the spirit you wish to contact to the room. A sacred object, like a totem or cross, can be placed in the middle of the table for focus.

Ask the group to either spread their palms on the table, touching just their neighbors' pinkie fingers with theirs, or have the group hold hands to connect the séance circle.

Direct the host to speak the purpose of the séance. The group should reflect whatever the host says in their minds. The group should also remember to reject obnoxious or dangerous spirits from their minds and the séance.

Ask questions and listen for any answers, whether the answers are directed to the group or the host. Let this continue for about a half hour.

Close the spiritual door by asking the spirits to return to where they came from, and thank them.
