How to Write a Christian Non Fiction Book

Christian non-fiction books are a precise genre that requires specialized authors. While most secular self-help books can present the topic entirely from the perspective and opinion of the author, Christian non-fiction books are written by you, but must reflect the views of scripture and ideally traditionally accepted theologies.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a topic. Typically, Christian nonfiction books deal with explaining scripture, using scripture to solve a modern problem or issues in the church. For instance, in 2001, one of the best selling books was "The Prayer of Jabez" discussing a single individual from the book of Chronicals. Research the amount of publications currently available on the topic, and avoid over-used topics.

    • 2

Establish your position on the topic. In modern Christian culture there is much wiggle room for interpretation and solutions. For instance, when writing a book discussing modesty for women, the most common scripture quoted is I Timothy 2:9,10. This scripture can be taken literally to mean that women should not braid their hair, be taken figuratively, or be taken as a general moral with a modern interpretation.

    • 3

Research your topic. The primary source for any Christian book, should naturally be the Bible. When researching information from the Bible, read it in English as well as study its original Hebrew and Greek for added meaning. Secondary sources for Christian writers are theologans and pastors. Read books by authors such as Dwight Moody, Wayne Grudem, John MacArthur and John Calvin.

    • 4

Organize your book. After extensive research, begin organizing your thoughts into chapters and sections.

    • 5

Pray over your work. In the words of Angela Elwell Hunt, award-winning Christian author, "Work as if everything depends on you, and pray as if everything depends on God."
