Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose the symbols that you will use. Consider letters, numbers, runes, astrological signs, words, colors, shapes, or pictures that you design yourself. You can use as many or as few of these as you would like, or of course any other systems you can imagine. For example, you could make a simple yes/no divination board, or a very chaotic one with all the symbols you can think of.
Design the layout of your board. You may want to put the concepts that you expect to come up most frequently near the center, make some sort of grid, or whatever appeals to you practically or aesthetically. Draw your symbols in in pencil.
Add decorative design elements if you like. You want to enjoy your divination board while you are using it, and in general magical tools should be crafted as finely as possible.
Add color with paint or markers if you like. Also consider other elements such as glitter or collaged photographs. When you're done coloring, go over your lines with a black pen or fine marker to make them clear and crisp.
Choose something to use as an indicator with your divination board. A lightweight, smooth round bracelet could work fine for this, as could many other household objects. Whatever you choose should be able to slide easily over your board with a light touch, and not obscure whatever it lands on.
Use your board. Place your hand on the indicator, and allow your friends to do the same if you are working in a group. Formulate a question out loud or in your mind, then see whether the indicator moves to give a response.
