How to Make a Grappling Hook for an Action Figure

It's always fun to get the action out of your action figure ̵2; unassisted flight, projectile weapons and real grappling hooks. You can make a working grappling hook at home that is prefabricated, looks real and actually grapples. A real grappling hook will not only grapple the edges of furniture, it will hook into your imagination during play.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the right size treble fish hook. Go to your local sporting goods or fishing store to look at different-sized hooks and bring your action figure to compare. Sizes range from one to 32 (the higher number being smaller).

    • 2

Cut the three sharp ends off the hook with wire cutters. The shape of the lure changes to make the spear-like end. Cut just underneath the new shape.

    • 3

Use a metal file to file the ends. Take the sharp edges off by rounding the lure so it safe during play.

    • 4

Tie a line through the eye of the lure. You can use fishing line bought at the sporting goods store or string.

    • 5

String the line to your action figure. You can tie the line to your figure's hand or build a handle. Buy another fishing lure, cut the hook off completely and file the sharp end. Place the hook's handle in the action figure's hand and tie the line to the lure's eye.
