How to Make an Action Hero Doll of Yourself

Sculpt the body and head with two separate pieces of wax. For the body, pay specific attention to the shape of your figure, as well as proportions. Use a reference image to get the best results. For the head, use a photograph of your face or look in the mirror while you're sculpting. Create as many details on the face as possible, so that your action figure will be recognizable. Consider exaggerating your muscles or other features to resemble an action hero.

Place the wax body in a box mold. You can easily create a box mold by using a circular piece of PVC pipe and a wood base.

Mix silicone according to the package instructions, and then pour into a pressure pot. Suck all the air out using the vacuum pump. This will prevent bubbles from forming in your cast. Once the air has been removed, pour the silicone into the mold box, to the side of the wax body, until it completely covers the wax body. Allow the mold to harden, then peel the mold gently from the wax model.

Mix the plastic according to the package instructions. Quickly pour the plastic into the mold, then place the mold into the pressure pot. Remove all the air with the vacuum pump so the plastic fills all the nooks and crannies of the mold. Remove the mold from the pressure pot, then peel back the silicone mold to reveal the plastic body.

Repeat this process with the wax head mold. When completed, attach the plastic head to the body by gluing it in place with a small amount of craft glue. Allow the glue to dry before proceeding.

Create the clothing and details with Magic Sculpt. Magic Sculpt can be applied with a small amount of water and is easy to sand and manipulate for about 40 minutes after application.

Allow the pieces to dry, then paint on the details of the clothing, face and body using acrylic paints and small paintbrushes. Spray the entire figure with Dull Cote to protect the paint from chipping.
