Instructions for The Dark Knight Attack Bat

The blockbuster 2008 film "The Dark Knight" spawned many toys and gadgets meant to reflect the gadgetry used by Batman to take down nefarious enemies like Joker and Two-Face. Although not seen in the movie, The Dark Knight Attack Bat is one such battery-operated, motion-activated toy. The gimmick is that the toy assumes a very batlike rest mode, hanging upside down on its perch until it is disturbed and comes to life.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the box if you haven't done so already or you have a loose Attack Bat. Flip the Bat over to locate the cover on the battery compartment. It's held on by two small Phillips-head screws, so unscrew and remove the cover with the appropriate screwdriver. Install a battery or replace the existing one if you bought the Attack Bat secondhand.

    • 2

Flip the "On" switch below the battery compartment to activate the Bat. Turn the toy upside down and hang it from the perch. Set the perch on a shelf or table but make sure no obstructions are in the Bat's way; it needs a clear flight path or else it'll smack into whatever may be in its way. Position the Bat so that it faces the entryway into the room.

    • 3

Open and close the door to the room or wave your arms to bring the Bat out of hibernation mode. The Bat responds to quick movement up to 10 feet away from its perch; its eyes will light up and it will flap its wings, making a screeching noise all the while.

    • 4

Move out of the way as the Bat leaps from the perch and takes flight. Generally speaking, the Bat usually takes only a few wing flaps before falling to the floor, so be prepared to catch it or make sure it has a soft place to land to prevent any damage.
