Tomland Starroid Raiders
Tomland's Starroid Raiders were loosely based on "Star Wars." These figures sold for around $1. Figures included Zang, Tango, Wahh, Zbu, Aton and Dado. Tomland released Starroid Raiders action figures in 1977. They were re-released in 1978, with most of the original series with a few new additions. Some of these included glow-in-the-dark heads and weapons.They were also known by a new name: Space Raiders.
Captain America
Captain America is a fictional superhero that appears in Marvel Comics comic books. The character first appeared in Captain America Comics in 1941. Captain America appeared in two television movies that aired on CBS in 1979: "Captain America," first aired January 19, 1979, and "Captain America II: Death Too Soon," first aired November 23, 1979. Because of it's popularity, Captain America was featured as a Mego figure in the 1970s. The Mego Corporation was a toy company that dominated the action figure toy market during most of the 1970s.
Stretch Armstrong
Stretch Armstrong was a large, gel-filled action figure first introduced in 1976 by Kenner Products, a toy company popular for introducing toys such as the Easy Bake Oven in the 1960s. Stretch Armstrong was shaped like a muscular man in shorts. The figure could be stretched from it's starting size of about 15 inches to approximately 4-to-5 feet.
Charlie's Angels
A television series based on three women who work for a private investigation agency, "Charlie's Angels" was the first series of its kind, with an ensemble of women playing heroes, as position normally held by men. The series was broadcast on ABC starting in 1976 and continued until 1981 and was one of the most successful television series of the 1970s. In 1977 Hasbro immortalized the main characters, Kelly, Kris, Jill and Sabrina with action figures portraying their likenesses.
