Toa Nuva Instructions

In the LEGO "Bionicle" series, the Toa are the heroes of the world of Mata Nui. There are six heroes, each representing the element earth, fire, water, air, stone and ice. The original heroes was known as the Toa Mata, but after fighting a pair of giant monsters they were engulfed in "Energized Protodermis," which transformed them into the more powerful Toa Nuva. The instructions for each of the characters are more or less the same, with some minor differences.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a 2-stud rod into the end of a number 2 connector. Plug this into the center hole in the center of the torso piece, so that the stem points upward, with the hole on the side pointing forward.

    • 2

Insert a small gear behind the upright connector, so that it nests between that and the upright beam at the back of the torso. Slide a stopper onto the end of a 6-stud rod, and insert that through the torso, connector and gear, so that the end of the rod points out the back of the model. Attach a large gear and stopper to the end of the rod.

    • 3

Insert a small gear into the side of the torso, so that it meshes with the small gear at the back of the model. Insert a 3-stud rod into the side of the model, into the gear. On the other side of the model, insert a black rod-ended pin.

    • 4

Slide a 6-stud rod through the middle hole on the bottom of the torso. If you are building Toa Pohatu Nuva, insert a 3-hole beam through the front of the torso before you push the rod all the way through. This beam becomes the neck on Pohatu Nuva only. After you have inserted this beam into Pohatu, flip the torso over, so that the gears are on the bottom.

    • 5

Assemble the head from the translucent skull piece and the grey face piece. Insert a 3-stud rod into the base of the skull, then attach the head to the neck of the model.

    • 6

Build a leg out of the knee-shaped ball-joint piece, and a foot. Attach a ball-joint socket to the top of the leg. Make two units, and attach them to the bottom of the torso, the model's hips.

    • 7

Build an arm using another ball-jointed beam. Attach two ball-joint sockets to either end of this piece. Make two units and attach them to the top of the model, at the shoulders.

    • 8

Test the gear mechanism. On Pohatu Nuva, it should make him kick, while it will make the other five characters swing their arms.

    • 9

Attach the shoulder accents to the shoulders of the model. Clip the torso plate to the front of the model. Attach the mask to the face.

    • 10

Connect the weapons to the hands or feet accordingly. For the swords or drills, attach them to the hands. Pohatu Nuva's weapons attach to his feet using 3-stud rods. Onua Nuva and Gali Nuva can also connect their weapons to their feet if they so choose.
