Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create or find a structured sketch of what you plan to build, whether it is a barn, space station or firehouse. Find out what the child likes or is interested in and incorporate that into the design. For example, if your young boy likes trains, you would likely want to build a train station. The overall objective is not to end up with something that looks like a dream house. Boys' dollhouses aren't supposed to actually look like houses.
Gather the necessary materials. If you are using wood, you'll need tools such as hammers and screw drivers to secure the wood with nails. You'll also need paint to give the house some life and color so that the child will want to play with it. If you have the skill, add masculine effects like bones or cars. If not, add stickers with characters, or effects that boys would prefer.
Begin building your creation. Begin measuring your wood for the appropriate measurements of the specific design. Cut the wood to the precise measurements you need, sand the pieces down, and set them aside. When sanding, don't make the edges too rounded. Aa smooth round edge is more appropriate for girls. Most boys' toys are built with slightly squarer edges than those for girls.
Number the wood pieces in order of assembly and have the necessary tools ready. Regardless of the design, try to remember during assembly preparation that your final product should not look like a traditional house. As previously mentioned, boys' dollhouses aren't actually supposed to look like houses.
Start painting the wood with the desired color. Keep in mind that most boys prefer dark colors versus the bright colors girls like, such as pink, orange and yellow.
Begin assembling your boy's dollhouse. Arrange the pieces in order of assembly to make the process easier.Y our final product should be a well-crafted, themed "dollhouse" fit for even the most rough and tumble of boys.
