Things You'll Need
Instructions
Choose the place where you will build the zip line. Consider the safety of the location when deciding. The area over which the zip line passes should be free of rocks, shrubs and debris. You must be able to securely attach each end of the zip line to a strong tree or solid pole planted firmly in the ground.
Measure the distance between the two end points using a tape measure. Add four feet to this length when you measure your nylon rope in order to have enough at each end to tie secure knots. Cut the rope to this length.
Tie a ski rope handle onto a pulley. Securely attach both ends of the handle to the pulley. Loop the rope through the pulley.
Attach each end of the rope to an end point of your zip line run. Knots are not enough, however; you must use nails or large hooks to secure the rope to each pole or tree.
Attach a rope to the bottom of the handle. You should be able to reach it from the ground when the pulley is at its highest point. The dangling rope will allow you to retrieve the pulley and position it correctly after each ride.
